Senior national correspondent Terry Moran is seeking a new position following a decision by ABC News to not renew his contract due to breaches of their policies regarding public statements about Trump administration officials.
Moran recently posted a lengthy critique of Stephen Miller, an advisor to former President Donald Trump, on X, the social media platform. In his post, he accused Miller of harboring deep-seated hatred, suggesting it serves as “spiritual nutrition” for Trump.
“He’s a world-class hater. You can see it just by looking at him; his hatred fuels him. He eats hatred,” Moran stated. He went further to describe Miller as pivotal in shaping the essence of Trump’s policies but dismissed the idea of him being an intellectual force, labeling his views as “bile.”
Moran wrapped up his post by saying, “His own glory. That’s his spiritual nutrition.”
This statement quickly garnered attention, prompting a remark from a White House press secretary. Caroline Levitt labeled Moran’s comments as “indifferent and unacceptable,” and noted that they had reached out to ABC to inquire about his accountability.
On Tuesday, ABC News confirmed they chose not to renew Moran’s contract, referencing his recent social media post as a clear violation of company policy. “We were at the conclusion of our agreement with Terry Moran and decided against renewal due to his recent post,” the network stated. They emphasized their commitment to maintaining high standards of objectivity, fairness, and professionalism in journalism.
Interestingly, Moran had previously come under fire from left-wing critics who demanded he be dismissed during the 2024 presidential election, pointing fingers at him for defending the Trump administration’s narrative.
In another incident, Harris Waltz’s campaign had accused Trump of experiencing cognitive decline during a small rally. However, Moran reported that attendees appeared to be enjoying the performance rather than getting caught up in the accusations.
“Absolutely unpleasant @ABC and @TerryMoran. This is why no one takes mainstream media seriously,” remarked one critic on social media.
