Houston Texans linebacker Azeez Al Shaair was under the microscope Sunday after he was ejected for a hit on Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence in the second quarter.
Lawrence was about to slide when Al Shair hit the Jaguars star in the head and neck area. The hit sparked a scuffle that led to the ejection of Al Shair and Jaguars cornerback Jarrian Jones. Al Sha'ir was at the center of a scuffle that broke out after the play.

The Jaguars ruled Lawrence out for the remainder of the game after he was diagnosed with a concussion.
Hits weren't the only thing Al Sha'ir was criticized for.
The linebacker participated in the NFL's My Cause My Cleats campaign. Players participating in the campaign can choose a cause that is important to them and represent their organization with Spike. Like last year, Mr. Al-Shayr chose the Palestine Children's Relief Fund.
Al-Shair had the word “Freedom” written on one side of his shoe in the colors of the Palestinian flag. On one of his shoes was written, “To Allah we belong, and to Him we will all return.'' The side of the other shoe listed the number of Palestinians reportedly killed or wounded in the war with Israel.

“We call on President Joe Biden to call for an immediate ceasefire and redirect its resources to address pressing domestic needs, including education, health care and assistance for the unhoused,” the group said on its website. I ask that you do so.”
