Texans Secure Narrow Win Against Colts
The Houston Texans edged out the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday with a close 20-16 victory, sparking some discussion among fans regarding kicker Kaimi Fairbairn’s extra point attempt.
The chatter kicked off after Texans wide receiver Nico Collins ran for a 7-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter. Fairbairn then stepped up for the extra point, but it appeared he missed to the left, causing some uncertainty.
Interestingly, NFL officials ruled the kick was good, leading to a social media debate about the correctness of the call.
CBS rules analyst Gene Steratore commented that Fairbairn’s kick cleared the outer edge of the uprights, which, according to NFL regulations, meant it couldn’t be reviewed. Houston held on tightly to the lead for the remainder of the game.
C.J. Stroud made his return, having previously left a match due to a concussion, completing 22 of 35 passes while amassing 276 yards, though he did throw one interception and faced two sacks.
Texans running back Nick Chubb added a touchdown and contributed 34 rushing yards, while Woody Marks led the team with 64 rushing yards. Collins proved effective with five receptions totaling 98 yards, alongside his rushing touchdown.
On the Colts’ side, quarterback Daniel Jones, despite playing through a broken fibula, managed to complete 14 of 27 passes, totaling 201 yards with two touchdown passes—one to Alec Pierce and another to Tyler Warren. Pierce was the leading receiver for Indianapolis, collecting four catches for 78 yards, while Warren had three catches amounting to 22 yards.
This win for the Texans shakes up the AFC South standings, tightening the race. The Jacksonville Jaguars climbed to the top of the division, passing the Colts following their win against the Tennessee Titans, with the Texans now just trailing them and Indianapolis.
