Jimmie Ward Back in Jail for Bond Violation
Jimmie Ward, the safety for the Houston Texans, has found himself in legal trouble again. He reportedly violated the terms of a $30,000 bond related to a felony assault arrest that occurred back in June. Ward, who is 34 years old, was arrested once more on Thursday and booked into the Montgomery County Jail, as recorded online. This marks his second time in custody in nearly two months.
According to Ward’s attorney, Steve Jackson, the latest arrest was due to Ward testing positive for alcohol, which was a breach of his bail conditions. “It’s a condition of bonding that you can’t drink,” Jackson noted. Ward apparently thought it was acceptable to have a drink as long as he didn’t get drunk. However, the court maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy for alcohol use under these circumstances.
Jackson clarified that there are no new allegations against Ward and that he did not violate any contact orders.
Ward’s initial arrest took place on June 12, where he faced multiple felony charges related to assault against family members, specifically for obstructing breathing and circulation.
In light of the situation, the Texans organization acknowledged the reports surrounding Ward’s arrest but chose not to comment any further, opting to gather more information.
Previously, Jackson mentioned that he believes Ward will be exonerated as investigations continue into the allegations against him. He pointed out that they have identified a witness who has been making claims against Ward and another noted sports figure. “It’s unfortunate that public figures often have to deal with these kinds of accusations, but it seems to be somewhat common. We’re thoroughly investigating her track record,” Jackson expressed, emphasizing his confidence in Ward’s eventual vindication.
Ward spent the majority of his career with the San Francisco 49ers, where he recorded significant statistics including seven interceptions and 451 tackles over nine seasons. He joined the Texans during the 2023 offseason on a two-year, $13 million deal, which was later extended by one year for an additional $10.5 million before last season began. In his time with the Texans, he has participated in 20 games, achieving three interceptions and 98 tackles.
