Texans’ Super Bowl odds skyrocket after Stefon Diggs trade

Stefon Diggs is headed to the Houston Texans, and there’s a surprising amount of interest in the up-and-down receiver.

The Diggs trade lowered the Texans’ Super Bowl odds at BetMGM from 25/1 to 15/1 on Wednesday, the lowest level of the offseason.

Due to the positive vibes surrounding Houston, the Texans have surpassed the Eagles in Super Bowl odds and have the seventh-highest overall odds.

Houston also saw a slight change in AFC South odds, sitting at +190 to win the division, but clearing favorite status at +110 at BetRivers.

It’s at least a little surprising that Diggs to the Texans is receiving such high praise from bettors and sportsbooks, considering the acquisition cost and the receiver seemingly taking a step back in 2023.

The former Bills star had his lowest performance in five years according to Pro Football Focus, shooting just 66.9 percent from the field, the second-worst mark of his nine-season career. .

What’s even more interesting is that the Texans are interested in stacking up their pass-catchers, considering they already have playmakers like Nico Collins, Nathaniel “Tank” Dell, Dalton Schultz, and rookie Joe Mixon. That’s what I have.

With Diggs on the team, it will be very interesting to see how up-and-coming star quarterback CJ Stroud splits up his targets.

When it comes to having this many extremely talented playmakers on one roster, it takes a very talented quarterback to get all the players involved.

It’s similar to when Tom Brady introduced Antonio Brown to the Buccaneers’ tandem of Mike Evans and Chris Godwin.

The early returns were strong and the Buccaneers won the Super Bowl that season, but the challenge will be difficult for the second-year quarterback to handle.

The Bills’ current need for a No. 1 receiver has dropped slightly from +1200 odds to +1400 odds after the 2024 Super Bowl.
