Texas beachgoers terrorized after 4 people bitten by shark on Fourth of July

Authorities have confirmed that multiple people were injured in a shark attack off a Texas beach on the Fourth of July.

The South Padre Island Police Department and the U.S. Coast Guard’s Atlantic District confirmed to Fox News Digital that four people were injured in an encounter with the marine predator off South Padre Island, on the state’s southern coast.

Police said the attack happened around 11am local time along Beach Access 14, near Wana Wana Beach Bar and Grill.

South Padre Island Police and Fire Department paramedics provided treatment at the scene, and one of the male victims was later transported to a nearby hospital, police said.

Authorities said the man was bitten “severely” on the leg.

A police spokesman gave no update on the man’s condition. Information on the other three incidents was not immediately available.

Game warden Capt. Chris Dowdy told The Associated Press that the attacks happened over a two-hour period along the coast.

Dowdy said that based on witness accounts and images on social media, authorities believe a single shark about six feet long was to blame.

Police officials said they were monitoring the coast for sharks.
