A Texas deputy had quite the surprise when he encountered what he assumed was a “dead” deer on the roadside, only for the animal to suddenly spring back to life. This amusing moment was captured on camera.
The incident took place around 11 p.m. on August 28, as reported by Sheriff Woody Wallace. The unidentified deputy approached the deer, flashlight in hand, thinking it was lifeless.
To his shock, the deer jumped up, prompting the officer to shriek and run away, yelling in a mixture of fright and disbelief. “It’s awake!” he exclaimed amid high-pitched screams.
Fortunately, he quickly regained his composure and chuckled, saying, “Okay, we’re good.” After giving the deputy a scare, the deer dashed off into the woods, disappearing into the night.
“Sometimes things can scare the heck out of a person,” Wallace observed, adding that it was just another unpredictable night on the job.
“Instead of a citation, the ‘suspect’ made a four-legged getaway,” the sheriff humorously noted.
