Texas GOP chief endorses Trump after two contests in other states

The Texas Republican Party leader announced Monday that he is endorsing former President Trump.

Texas Republican Party Chairman Matt Rinaldi endorses Trump In X’s Monday post, formerly known as Twitter. He also endorsed Texas House candidate David Covey, who is challenging Texas House Speaker Dade Phelan in March’s Republican primary.

“Barring extraordinary circumstances, party leaders must remain neutral in primaries, but the threat our country faces from Democrats, globalists, and the fake Republicans who hand over power to Democrats is truly extraordinary. Yes, we need everyone in this fight,” Rinaldi wrote in a letter of support.

Trump won the Iowa caucuses and New Hampshire primary earlier this month, maintaining a significant lead over fellow Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley. According to Decision Desk Headquarters, Haley received 32 of the 1,215 delegates needed to win the Republican nomination, with Haley receiving 17.

Haley is the only major Republican challenger to the former president and hopes to do well in her home state of South Carolina next month. The Texas Republican primary will be held on Super Tuesday, March 5th.
