Texas Gov. Abbot Directing Resources to Help Florida, Tennessee with Hurricane Relief

Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott's office announced Monday that the Lone Star State will commit resources to support hurricane relief efforts in Florida and Tennessee.

The governor said he is directing the Texas Department of Emergency Management (TDEM) to deploy Texas emergency response and recovery resources to Florida and Tennessee to respond to the damage caused by Hurricane Milton and Hurricane Helen.

“As Hurricane Milton prepares to make landfall on Florida's Gulf Coast later this week, Texas is rapidly deploying emergency response personnel and resources to Florida,” Governor Abbott said. “I also directed the Texas Emergency Management Agency to send additional state resources to Tennessee to support recovery efforts in communities affected by Hurricane Helen.”

The storm could make landfall somewhere in Tampa on Wednesday before moving into the eastern edge of the state.
