A Texas father was arrested last weekend after allegedly locking his hungry children in his car while bar-hopping nearby, local police said.
Fabio Aaron Minchala was taken into custody on Saturday after a witness found his two children, ages 2 and 6, alone in a locked car, honking their horns. CBS4 reported, citing El Paso authorities..
When firefighters opened the car, the children told the firefighters they were hungry.
Authorities found Mincha at a nearby Ditzy Duck Bar, where she told police she was aware the children were in the car and planned to return soon, according to CBS4.
The newspaper said the father had slurred speech, smelled like alcohol and was unable to maintain his balance.
Bartenders at two other local watering holes later told police that Minchala was removed from the establishments because he became intoxicated and aggressive.
In September, Minchala filed for divorce from his wife of four years, the mother of his younger child. KTSM reported.
The divorce was finalized two days before Minchala was accused of binge drinking.
Minchala was charged with two counts of child abandonment for attempting to return home and was released on $15,000 bail on Tuesday, the paper added.
El Paso police did not immediately respond to The Post's request for comment about the incident.
