Unexpected Storm Leads to Viral Broadcast Drama

A storm that caught everyone off guard stirred up some unexpected drama on-air.

Recently, a Texas newscaster and their chief meteorologist found themselves in a bit of hot water after a confrontational exchange during a broadcast went viral.

During the KFDX News 10 p.m. segment, news anchor Carney Porter labeled her colleague, meteorologist Michael Bowling, “boring,” after accusing him of not paying attention to her forecast. The situation turned awkwardly tense when she tried to move on to a new topic shortly after Bowling had warned about incoming rain, suggesting that it wasn’t included in the forecast. The awkward moment quickly spread across social media.

“Didn’t the weather forecast say it wasn’t going to rain?” Bowling interrupted, sounding increasingly frustrated. Porter was quick to counter with, “I just said it was going to rain,” raising the tension even higher.

They exchanged a few more jabs, with Porter telling him to, “Stop trying to correct people and just do your job,” at one point. Bowling responded in irritation, saying, “I don’t understand why you won’t listen to me.” To which Porter shot back, “Because I’m bored.”

The day after the broadcast, both anchor and meteorologist took to social media to apologize for their on-air exchange. They framed it as friendly banter, affirming their strong friendship and that teasing one another was just part of their dynamic.

Bowling emphasized their friendship, mentioning, “Carney and I are very close, almost like brothers.” He elaborated that they often joke around, even sharing a light-hearted photo of themselves playfully holding boxing gloves in the studio.

Porter took a moment to clarify her side as well in a detailed social media post. She explained, “I know it seems like Michael and I are giving each other a hard time, but please understand that it’s always just fun times.”

She expressed that while their playful sarcasm can occasionally sound serious, it’s all in good spirit and reiterated her friendship with Bowling. “I sincerely apologize to anyone who felt uncomfortable during that moment,” she added, emphasizing the camaraderie shared within the newsroom.
