An unfortunate petty theft incident at a Texas pizza shop inadvertently leads to another victim thanks to a hilarious social media post.

Stone Oven Pizza in Wichita Falls took to Facebook to complain that money in its tip jar was stolen and put it up for auction to cover employees' missing dollars.

The teens accused in the incident left behind their cowboy hats, so the restaurant owners decided it would be a good idea to use the hats they left behind to collect the proceeds.

The company announced that all proceeds from the auction will be divided equally among the three employees who lost the chips.

What the pizzeria didn't expect was that this clever endeavor would lead to them discovering the hat's true owner. Its owner was not a teenager.

An update to the original post reveals that the same teens broke into the man's truck and stole his hat.

The teenagers had left behind their cowboy hats, so the restaurant owners decided it would be a good idea to use them to collect the proceeds.
