Her husband was killed after a Texas politician was stabbed and her husband was told he attacked them at his Lewisville home early Monday morning.
Republican Denton County Commissioner Bobby Mitchell, 76, and her husband were stabbed early Monday morning by their grandchildren, police said. Bobby Mitchell’s husband, Fred Mitchell, is expected to survive the injury after he died shortly after Bobby Mitchell was taken to a local hospital at 5am.
The Louisville Police Department said on Facebook that the couple’s 23-year-old grandson, Mitchell Blake Rinker, was arrested at 3:53am Monday, and charged with murder and aggravated attacks.

Denton County is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metro area. Mitchell was Louisville’s first black mayor when he was elected in 1993.
She was the mayor of Louisville until she resigned in 2000.
Bobby Mitchell has two children and nine grandchildren. Denton County government. Ringer is listed as one of Mitchell’s grandchildren.

In addition to her time as mayor of Lewisville and Denton County Commissioner of Denton County District 3, Mitchell was also involved in her community. She served on the local YMCA board of directors, the Denton County Welfare Board, and was a member of a Louisville Regional Republican woman.
The Rotary at Lewisville, where both Bobby Mitchell and Fred Mitchell are members, said on Facebook that Bobby was listed in stable condition and moved to the ICU to recover from the stab wound.
In a Facebook post, Denton County Judge Andy Ease called the case “a huge tragedy.”
