Texas’ Quinn Ewers makes 2025 NFL Draft decision after $6M NIL rumor

Money may not be the issue for Quinn Ewers.

The Texas junior quarterback announced on social media that he has declared for the 2025 NFL Draft amid rumors of a $6 million NIL package.

Ewers' departure opens the door to the beginning of the Arch Manning era in Austin.

After leading the Longhorns to the College Football Playoff for the second consecutive season, there were questions about whether Ewers would return to college at Texas, another school, or turn pro.

This new NIL era gives players the chance to make more money in college than in the pros, like Carson Beck going to Miami for a $4 million package.

Ewers was reportedly offered $6 million.

He declined to discuss the rumored offer before Texas' season-ending loss to Ohio State in the College Football Playoff semifinals.

“So, right now, I'm just not worried about any of that,” Ewers said earlier this month. According to USA Today. “I mean, people can say all they want to say, but you know, at this point I'm just focused on Friday.”

Ewers won't make $6 million in the NFL this season, and it's unclear where he will be drafted after some questionable seasons.

He threw a career-high 31 touchdowns, while also doubling his interceptions from six to 12.

Ewers also struggled at times with injuries and feelings of helplessness.

In his final college game, he completed 23 of 39 passes for 283 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception, but lost a killer fumble as Ohio State won 28-14. He regained the winning goal.

Ewers had 68 touchdowns and 24 interceptions in his career.

He is ranked as the No. 5 quarterback prospect in the 2025 class. According to ESPN's Mel Kiper.

Ewers is expected to be part of the second group of signal-callers behind top-five picks Shedur Sanders (Colorado) and Cam Ward (Miami).

His departure means Manning has a chance to prove he can live up to expectations as a full-time starter.
