Texas Republican Addresses Affair and Abortion Claims

A Republican representative in Texas is responding to allegations that he funded an abortion for a former stripper, despite his anti-abortion stance. The accusations are coming from Alex Grace, who alleges that Texas Representative Giovanni Capriglione had a longstanding relationship with her, claiming he facilitated the abortion in question. While Capriglione admits to infidelity, he firmly denies paying for the abortion.

Republican officials have labeled the situation a “smear and slander campaign,” suggesting it will only motivate Capriglione to fight back stronger. Interestingly, Capriglione had announced just days before these claims surfaced that he would not be seeking reelection.

Grace, in her comments to a right-wing media outlet, shared that she became “close friends” with Capriglione after their initial meeting at a strip club. She described him as “magnetic” and supportive, crediting him with encouraging her to improve her life. Grace claims Capriglione mentioned that his wife knew about their relationship and even suggested she explore Amsterdam’s Red Light District, where prostitution is legal.

According to Grace, after Capriglione entered politics, their relationship soured. She expressed frustration over his political positions and indicated he cut off communication after advising her to “stick to who you are.” She raised a poignant question: if he supposedly used abortion for personal gain, why then profess to be against it?

Grace is also a mother of four, a detail that adds another layer to the conversation surrounding these allegations.

Capriglione has hinted at potential legal action in response to the ongoing reports. Meanwhile, calls for his resignation have emerged from within the Texas Republican party, with at least one member requesting an investigation into the claims made against him.

As Capriglione continues to serve out his seventh term, the fallout from this controversy remains to be seen. Attempts to reach his office for comment regarding the abortion allegations have gone unanswered.
