Texas Sheriff from the Democratic Party Begins Inquiry Into Trump Supporters Following Reported Altercations at a Rally

SAN ANTONIO, Texas

Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar, a Democrat, has initiated a criminal investigation into the actions of Trump supporters who interacted with protesters at a recent rally in Alamo City.

The sheriff previously gained notoriety for looking into the flights organized by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, which transported migrants from San Antonio to Martha’s Vineyard in September 2022, as highlighted by Breitbart News. There was considerable support in Florida for this relocation initiative, according to reports.

During President Donald Trump’s rally on October 7, which took place at the Joe Freeman Coliseum, the venue was packed, and there were over a thousand supporters gathered outside. However, several hundred demonstrators displayed signs critical of the administration, including messages against ICE.

Inside, the event experienced several disruptions as agitators shouted at Trump and attendees. Authorities removed approximately 18 of these individuals, issuing two warnings for criminal trespass. The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office confirmed there were no arrests made during the rally.

On Monday, Salazar’s office launched a social media appeal for help in identifying those who might have been engaged in or witnessed conflicts with the agitators. While the Sheriff’s Office hasn’t confirmed whether any laws were actually broken, they aim to clarify if any attendees violated legal standards.

A statement from the sheriff’s office indicated, “The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office is committed to thoroughly investigating all reported incidents and will take appropriate action if evidence establishes that a crime has been committed. We appreciate the public’s assistance and encourage anyone with information to come forward.”

Salazar characterized the incidents at the rally as not serious but expressed his determination to prosecute if it can be established who the involved individuals were, who might have been victimized, and whether there were any breaches of law.

He noted, “Thankfully, there were no major incidents at the rally last week. However, any form of political violence, no matter how minor, has no place in our society. Each victim will have the opportunity to press charges if they choose.”

Previously, Salazar had filed criminal charges related to the flights that transferred numerous migrants from San Antonio to Martha’s Vineyard—a part of a strategy to relocate them from smaller border towns to sanctuary cities further away. He accused DeSantis’s program of misleading migrants into leaving a city-run shelter with false promises of jobs.

In September 2025, Bexar County District Attorney Joe Gonzales, who received considerable funding from a political action committee linked to George Soros during his campaign, opted not to advance the case brought by Salazar. He stated that after careful review, there wasn’t sufficient evidence to substantiate charges beyond a reasonable doubt in court.

A report indicated that prosecutors interviewed thirteen migrants identified by Salazar’s team as victims in the case against the flight organizers. Notably, none claimed to have boarded the plane under duress or intimidation, according to the findings summarized by prosecutors.
