Texas shooting leaves 2 dead, multiple wounded during Juneteenth celebration

Two people were killed and multiple others injured in a shooting during a Juneteenth celebration in Texas on Saturday night.

The shooting happened around 10:50 p.m. in Round Rock, Texas, Round Rock Police Chief Allen Banks said at a press conference.

Police are still searching for suspects, and it is unclear how many shooters were involved.

At least six people were taken to hospital with “possibly serious” injuries, emergency response officials said. ABC News report.

Austin-Travis County EMS said four adults and two children were transported to a local trauma facility.

Banks said the shooting began when two groups began fighting near a concession area at Old Settlers Park during Round Rock’s Juneteenth festival, and at least one person pulled out a gun and fired a shot.

Police officers and firefighters on the scene quickly responded to the shooting, applying tourniquets to the victims and administering CPR.

Police did not release a description of the suspect, but Banks said there are multiple suspect descriptions and differing accounts of what happened during the shooting.

Banks said activities scheduled for the park Sunday morning were canceled but were expected to resume by the afternoon for Father’s Day activities.
