Texas suspect charged with murder after allegedly using Uber to deliver fatal fentanyl pills: police

Authorities in Texas arrested an alleged drug dealer who was later charged with murder after allegedly “taking advantage of an unsuspecting Uber delivery driver” to deliver fentanyl.

Kennedy Kirby, 30, of Garland, was initially charged with manufacturing and delivery of a controlled substance, according to the Wylie Police Department. On Thursday, he was formally charged with murder.

In a Facebook post, authorities said the charges stem from the death of Jacob Bowers, who died of an overdose on January 11. Following Bowers’ toxicology report, authorities charged Kirby with murder.

“Investigative methods led us to determine that Mr. Kirby used an unsuspecting Uber delivery driver to deliver the package containing fentanyl to Mr. Bowers,” Wylie Police said in a statement. .

When authorities arrested Kirby at his apartment on February 6, they found thousands of pills containing fentanyl.

“We found 22.3 grams of ‘raw fentanyl’ and 1,436 M30 fentanyl pills,” police said in a statement. [and] 1,054.50 V/2090 Xanax Fentanyl Tablets. ”

During the raid, police also found “illegal narcotics, electronic devices, a handgun, and multiple pieces of drug paraphernalia used in the packaging and delivery of cash,” according to a press release.

“Fentanyl is becoming a problem in our country,” Police Chief Anthony Henderson said in a statement. “The Wylie Police Department thoroughly investigates all overdose incidents and will hold us accountable for placing fentanyl in our community.”

After his arrest, Kirby was transported to the Collin County Detention Facility, where he remains.
