The former Texas teacher was arrested and slapped on several charges after allegedly having inappropriate relationships with middle schoolers.
Kara Hernandez, 31, resigned from her education job at Ronald Thornton Middle School in September 2024. Fox 26 Houston reported.
Hernandez was arrested on February 14th and faces charges of indecency with a child, with sexual contact and inappropriate relationships between educators and students.
The relationship took place on or around April 1, 2022, when Hernandez was working at Houston Regional Schools. The large ju court indictment said it accused Hernandez of intentionally engaging in sexual contact with students who have been registered with the school. In Facebook Posts Regarding Hernandez’s arrest, those who claim that he has children in the district wrote that Hernandez is an orchestra teacher. The posts were unable to independently test these claims.
She resigned from her position in September 2024 during the investigation of the allegations, the Fort Bend Independent School District said.
Ford Bend ISD addressed the allegations against the former teacher in a letter sent to his parents.
“Last allegations of inappropriate conduct by staff at Thornton Middle School have recently attracted the attention of the district by former students. Fort Bend ISD immediately began an investigation, and staff were immediately removed from campus and took administrative leave until the results of the investigation were made.
In another statement to a local news channel, Fort Bend ISD said, “The district took action shortly after the allegations were revealed, and during the investigation the teacher resigned in September 2024 in place of fire.”
Fort Bend ISD did not immediately return a request to post a comment.
Hernandez bonds are set at $50,000, with $25,000 per fee.
She is scheduled to appear in court next April 28th.
