Texas State Police announced Monday that a woman has been charged in connection with an investigation into alleged abuse and neglect at five unlicensed group homes housing adults with mental and physical disabilities.
Regula “Sue” Becker, 49, the operator of Love and Caring for People LLC, was arrested on suspicion of abandonment, endangerment and imminent risk of injury, and could face additional charges depending on the outcome of the investigation. There is a possibility that the Arlington Police Department said in a news release. She is being held in the Tarrant County Jail on $750,000 bail.
A scandal that allegedly occurred at a group home was reported at the end of last year after a resident of the home called out to nearby residents for help in escaping.
“One day I was in the backyard and there was an older man there, I think he had cerebral palsy or something,” one neighbor told FOX 4 Dallas-Fort Worth. “He asked me to call 911 because he was trying to run away. So we called the police and they took us here in an ambulance, fire truck, etc. They have been here several times since then. It’s on.”

The Arlington Police Department’s Behavioral Health Law Enforcement Division then began a months-long investigation into multiple allegations of abuse, neglect, theft and fraud connected to Becker and her corporate group home, the department said in a statement. .
Investigators say Becker and his staff failed to properly care for their clients, prevented them from seeking medical care, attempted to cut off all contact between them and their families, and abused their clients without their knowledge or consent. They allege they used debit cards to make purchases and left customers dead. property, including phones and vehicles;
Police identified multiple potential victims and located five properties associated with Love and Caring for People LLC in the Texas cities of Arlington, Mansfield, and Grand Prairie. Police said there may be more victims or group homes that have not yet been found.
Police Chief Al Jones said in a statement: “We have learned that there is something very alarming going on inside these homes. We want to make sure no one is harmed.” “If you or a loved one have spent time in these homes, or know of other locations where this company may be based, we need to know. ”
