Texas Woman Accused of Bringing Child to Alleged Pedophile Doctor Ten Times for Medications

Texas Woman Charged for Allegedly Providing Child to Doctor for Sexual Assault

Authorities have charged a Texas woman, Alicia Evonne Sanchez, with a shocking crime—handing a child over to a suspected pedophile doctor for sexual acts in exchange for prescription drugs.

According to Smith County Sheriff deputies, the 37-year-old Sanchez was arrested and accused of bringing a child under 14 years old to Dr. Kenneth Donald Haygood, a 56-year-old physician, at his practice in Tyler, Texas. This unsettling situation came to light through a report by KLTV.

It’s been claimed that Sanchez took the child to see the doctor at least ten times, remaining in the room during the abuse. Disturbingly, during these incidents, the child would cry and plead with Haygood to stop, yet was told, “This is what doctors do.”

Reportedly, Haygood provided Sanchez with Adderall, a prescription stimulant, which she then purportedly packaged in a clear bag and told the child the pills were “for people who couldn’t get them from their doctor,” as noted by authorities.

Details concerning Sanchez’s relationship with the child or the victim’s gender have not been disclosed by the police.

Ironically, if convicted, Sanchez could face a harsher sentence than the doctor who carried out the abusive acts. Haygood is currently serving eight years in prison for sex crimes, having accepted a plea deal last September.

Sanchez, in contrast, might be looking at a sentence ranging from 99 years to life imprisonment if found guilty of “continuous sexual assault of a child under 14,” as reported.

In his plea agreement, Haygood admitted to sexually assaulting two female patients, while other charges, including those involving a child, were dismissed—resulting in a lighter sentence. Assistant District Attorney Richard Vance stated that Haygood “probably deserved more” than eight years.

The prosecutor explained that the plea deal was arranged to prevent the victims from having to endure the trauma of testifying about the distressing details of their experiences.

Sanchez is currently being held on a bond of $3 million.
