A young woman remains on a ventilator in intensive care after a hit-and-run crash in Dallas, Texas on February 11 claimed the life of her friend.
The incident occurred when Kamryn Hersi, a 23-year-old recent graduate from Texas Tech University, was in a car with her college roommate and three other Fox 4 friends. report Friday.

The group was waiting at a traffic light on Beckley Street when a pickup truck hit the back of the vehicle, causing a chain reaction.

Law enforcement arrested the driver, who is a suspect in the incident. When the accident occurred, she allegedly fled the scene on foot.
The accident victims were taken to a local hospital for treatment, but Mr. Herridge’s roommate, a young woman identified as Sarah House, died in the accident.

According to an arrest warrant affidavit, witnesses called 911 to say a woman came out from the driver’s side of the truck “wearing a little black dress and white club shoes.” The woman also appeared to be extremely intoxicated. ”
The woman who left the scene on foot was later identified by police as 27-year-old Carmen Guerrero. Detectives found Guerrero’s wallet in her abandoned truck last week, 11 days after the accident, and took her into custody.
The suspect is in jail and faces charges including manslaughter and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

“Currently in the hospital and dependent on a ventilator, Kamryn’s path forward is uncertain and difficult. After 14 days in the ICU, four surgeries and multiple procedures, Kamryn continues to persevere. “She still has at least two more surgeries and several months left in the ICU,” the GoFundMe page reads. Assist Mr. Herridge’s family is reading a book.
As of Sunday afternoon, the page had raised $26,451 of its $30,000 goal.
