Texas Woman Charged in Trafficking Case of Missing Teen

A woman aged 35 has been charged for her involvement in the sexual trafficking of a missing 16-year-old girl who had run away from home, according to reports from the Harris County Constable’s Office in Texas.

The investigation was sparked by a report concerning a runaway juvenile, after the police received relevant information from the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Authorities noted that at-risk teens often become vulnerable to trafficking because they may begin to trust the individuals who exploit them.

The FBI reported that the teenager was being trafficked from a residence located in northern Harris County.

During the search, police executed a warrant at the house but did not locate the juvenile there. Instead, they arrested Brandi Lowe.

Constable Mark Herman indicated, “We uncovered evidence showing that the woman in custody was actively engaged in soliciting individuals online, attempting to sell the missing teen as a 16-year-old girl.”

Herman emphasized the determination of law enforcement that night, stating, “We kept searching and eventually got a lead on a potential hotel where the teenager might be. When we went there, we found her with a male who was also possibly involved.”

Fortunately, the girl was rescued and placed in a safe environment.

Lowe faces charges for promoting prostitution involving a minor and is currently being held on a $20,000 bond.

After her rescue, the teenager was reunited with her family. Police have mentioned that further arrests may occur as their investigation unfolds.

In related statements, private investigator Betty Simons noted to KHOU-TV that such cases frequently emerge from online engagements. “A common trend is that they are groomed through social media or gaming platforms,” she explained. This grooming can lead to dangerous situations where they are exploited.
