A text message from 2020 by former Fox News host and newly appointed prosecutor, Janeine Pirro, reveals her pride in supporting President Trump ahead of the election while criticizing colleague Sean Hannity.
“I work hard for parties nationwide… I have the top-rated show on all news channels during the weekend. My efforts benefit the president and the party,” she stated.
This text message, first reported by the Washington Post, was part of court filings related to ongoing litigation involving voting technology firm SmartMatic and the network concerning the 2020 election.
In another text from October that year, Pirro discussed a meeting in the Oval Office with Trump, expressing frustration about Hannity.
“Shawn [Hannity] is an ego maniac. I was in the Oval talking to Hariri and the President. He acts as if he owns the place, throwing documents around, even when I use your private restroom. I had to go into the Oval bathroom. It’s like he only cares about himself,” she mentioned.
Outspoken political commentator Pirro left Fox earlier this year, with Trump serving as her attorney in D.C. She intends to assist him in addressing crime in the district.
Pirro is among the Fox hosts identified in court documents by SmartMatic for allegedly spreading Trump’s false narratives about voter fraud and criticizing the company’s software.
Fox News countered in legal filings, asserting that it only reports on credible allegations linked to election news driven by Trump and his associates, while contending that SmartMatic has exaggerated its claims.
The network also pointed to recent allegations of bribery and money laundering against SmartMatic executives.
“Evidence indicates that SmartMatic’s reputation suffered before Trump’s attorneys made claims about Fox News, and the company has exaggerated its damages to undermine free speech,” Fox stated. “Now that SmartMatic executives are facing bribery charges, we are prepared to continue defending our press freedoms.”
Tests for side effects concerning Fox News are anticipated to take several months.
Attempts to reach Pirro’s office for comments were unsuccessful.
