TGL may add new Texas-based team with $77 million price tag, per report

After the successful first season, TGL is about to expand.

According to Doug Ferguson Associated Pressgroup Dallas investors have bid $77 million We will establish a Texas-based TGL team for the 2026 season.

Perhaps that includes world number one Scotty Scheffler, three-time major winner Jordan Spieth, fellow Texas Longhorn Will Zaratrice, and other players with long star state roots such as Sam Burns and Doug Gimm.

Ferguson also noted that TGL is working with ESPN to establish a 2026 schedule. It will likely fall into the window of January to March, with six original teams returning to the TGL (defending champions Atlanta Drive, New York Golf Club, Bay, Los Angeles, Jupiter Link and Boston Common). If there is, there will be few changes to the complexion of each team's roster, but the league is exploring new ideas for future implementations.

However, the most important change could be a new team. TGL co-founder Mike McCarley said one potential expansion group has participated in all TGL matches, most of which are professional sports owners, from cricket to football.

Another important development for the TGL is that the league is exploring options for opening a second facility in the Pacific or Mountain Timezone. This won't happen in 2026, but it's probably even further down.

“I think a lot of us on the West Coast would be entertaining if they moved Sophie Center West,” Tony Finau said before last week's Texas kids' Houston Open.

“It's much easier for me. It's no secret that I travel with my family and my kids. They're very important to me, so being together as often as possible is a priority for me.
