New York Jets Bring Back Geno Smith

The New York Jets are giving Geno Smith another shot. After a mixed experience with the team from 2013 to 2016, general manager Darren Mousey has welcomed the 12-year NFL veteran back for the current season.

At 35 years old, Smith expressed his determination on March 12, saying, “I still have a lot of physical strength left to play in this match, so I want to keep working hard to make the most of it. I believe the Jets are getting a better player than they had in Seattle. In fact, I know that.”

He returns to a Jets team that faced challenges last season.

With Aaron Glenn as head coach, they ended the previous year with a disappointing record of 3-14. The roster saw trades of stars like Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams, along with the release of Allen Lazard, adding to the team’s struggles.

Fortunately, Mousey has been active during the offseason.

He secured elite edge rusher David Bailey with the No. 2 pick in the NFL Draft, as well as selecting tight end Kenyon Sadiq and cornerback D’Angelo Pons. The team also signed prominent players like safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, defensive end Joseph Ossai, nose tackle David Onyemata, and cornerback Nashon Wright, who led the league in interceptions last year.

Excitingly, fan favorites like Garrett Wilson, Olu Fashanu, and Breece Hall are all set to return.

Now that the 2026 schedule is out, the Jets have clarity on their opponents with the new roster.

Some notable home games at MetLife Stadium include matchups against the Green Bay Packers led by Jordan Love on September 20, the Buffalo Bills with Josh Allen on November 15, the Denver Broncos featuring Bo Nix on December 13, and the New England Patriots with Drake Maye on December 27.

They will also face Smith’s former team, the Las Vegas Raiders, on Sunday, November 1.

If you’re interested in catching Smith, Bailey, Pons, Wilson, Fitzpatrick, and the rest of the Jets in action, tickets for all eight 2026 home games at MetLife Stadium are currently available.
