The Beach Boys co-founder Brian Wilson ‘suffering from dementia,’ placed under conservatorship

Beach Boys co-founder Brian Wilson has been placed in a conservatorship due to declining health following the death of his beloved wife last month.

The “In My Room” singer’s loved ones have confirmed that two family representatives will serve as co-guardians of the 81-year-old singer.

In a statement, Wilson’s family said the decision was prompted by the death of his wife, Melinda Ledbetter, who died last month at the age of 77. on instagram.

“Following the passing of Brian’s beloved wife, Melinda, after careful consideration and consultation by Brian, his seven children, Gloria Ramos, and Brian’s doctors (and the family procedures established by Brian and Melinda), (Consistent with), we have long-time members of the Wilson family, principals LeeAnne Hurd and Jean Sievers, serving as co-conservators of Mr. Bryan,” they wrote Thursday night.

“This decision was made to ensure that no drastic changes were made to the household and that Brian and the children living at home would continue to remain in the home, cared for by Gloria Ramos and her wonderful team. They has been helping me take care of my family for many years.”

“Brian is able to enjoy spending time with all of his family and friends, continue to work on his current projects, and participate in any activities of his choosing,” they added.

Court documents obtained by The Blastthe 81-year-old music icon “suffers from a severe neurocognitive disorder (such as dementia) that leaves him unable to adequately meet his personal needs, including physical health, food, clothing, and shelter.”

Wilson is being treated for the disorder, the doctor added.

The newspaper has contacted Wilson’s representatives for further comment.

News of Wilson’s deteriorating health came just weeks after Ledbetter’s death.

Ms Wilson announced the news in a heartfelt post on social media, saying Ms Ledbetter, to whom she had been married since 1995, had been her “savior” and “rock.”

“My heart is broken. Melinda, my beloved wife of 28 years, passed away this morning,” Wilson wrote. on instagram January 30th.

“My five children and I are just in tears. I’m lost. Melinda was more than my wife. She was my savior. She gave me everything I needed to build a career. It gave me a sense of mental security.”

“She encouraged me to make music that was closest to my heart. She was my anchor. She meant everything to us. Please keep her in your prayers. . Love and compassion Brian,” added the two-time Grammy Award winner.

During their nearly 30 years of marriage, the couple adopted five children: Dakota Rose, Dahlia Rose, Delaney Ray, Dylan, and Dash.

Wilson was married to Marilyn Lovell from 1964 to 1979.

The former couple have two daughters, Carnie Wilson and Wendy Wilson, who are also musicians and members of the group Wilson Phillips.
