'The Bear' actress Abby Elliott seeks divorce

Abby Elliott has ended her nearly decade-long marriage to producer Bill Kennedy.

The 39-year-old actress, recognized for her role as Natalie on FX’s popular series “The Bear,” filed for divorce on Friday, as noted in divorce documents obtained by TMZ.

She specified July 8 as the date of separation, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason.

Elliott is pursuing joint legal and physical custody of their two adopted children, Edith, who is 5, and William, aged 3.

In her filing, she requested spousal support from Kennedy but asked the court not to award any spousal support to him, along with covering her legal fees.

A representative for Elliott did not provide a comment when contacted.

Elliott and Kennedy first crossed paths on the set of the 2014 film “Sex Ed,” for which he penned the screenplay. The film featured actors like Glen Powell and Haley Joel Osment.

They quickly fell for each other and became engaged in October 2015. Elliott, reflecting on the proposal, mentioned it was a surprise amidst a beautiful setting of flowers. “It was really beautiful and he got down on one knee in the traditional style,” she recalled.

The couple tied the knot in a New England church in September 2016. Their first child, Edith, arrived in October 2020, followed by their second, William, in June 2023.

Elliott’s background includes a stint on Saturday Night Live from 2008 to 2012, along with roles in movies like “No Strings Attached” and “Cheaper by the Dozen.” Meanwhile, Kennedy is known for his work as a producer and writer on series such as “House of Cards” and “The Morning Show.”
