The best and worst songs to have sex to right now: science

To set the mood in the bedroom, you need to play some hit tunes, but researchers say most people are picking the wrong tunes.

The experts analyzed Spotify's current pop playlists for keywords like “romance,” “sexy,” “sensual” and “intimate” to determine which strictly sensual songs fit the desired tempo for sex, which has been scientifically determined to be 119 beats per minute.

In the end, it turns out our expectations were way off. Date Scoutrevealed some of the worst offenders, a long list of embarrassing, coincidentally unsexy, acts that ironically conclude with Jeremih's “birthday sex.”

The R&B singer's song is 60 BPM and was ranked as the most inappropriate song to play during an act, despite appearing on around 121 playlists.

Popular songs like Arctic Monkeys' “I Wanna Be Yours” and Daniel Caesar's “Get You (ft. Kali Uchis)” also ranked low.

Several of The Weeknd's songs, including “High for This,” were found to have low BPMs.

Despite the sexually provocative lyrics, the song's tempo of 75 BPM disqualifies it from the pros, who were dismayed to find that the song appeared on 146 private playlists, 31 of which had the word “sex” in the title.

Rihanna has also had several songs that were deemed inappropriate for the bedroom, including “Needed Me” and “Sex With Me.”

The researchers also analyzed the Billboard Hot 100 for the best songs for sex, with Post Malone coming out on top.

“Pour Me A Drink (ft. Blake Shelton)” has a tempo of 119 BPM, making it the perfect song to spice up sex, while other chart-topping hits include Dominic Fike's “misses” at 119.9 BPM and Eminem's “Brand New Dance” at 120 BPM.

Previous studies have shown the best songs to play when you want to hang out in the bedroom, with the average time for hip-hop lovers being 31.5 minutes.
