Prominent conservative politicians celebrated Independence Day on Thursday, championing the uniquely American spirit and remembering all the sacrifices made in the face of tyranny throughout America’s history.
Former President Donald Trump shared two videos on Truth Social in which he spoke hopeful words about the country’s future.
“We proclaim the ideals of the Declaration of Independence. The future of America is in our hands. And, my friends, the best is yet to come,” Trump said.
“Happy Independence Day! Today we remember the sacrifices our forefathers made to protect our freedom,” said Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.).
“Let’s stand strong against tyranny and ensure America remains the land of the free and home of the brave!” she added.

“248 years ago, our great nation declared its independence from Great Britain and fought for our God-given rights and freedoms. From 1776 to today, we are grateful to the brave American heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice to make our nation a ‘Shining City on a Hill’ and inspire hope to the world,” Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Whatley said in a statement.

Former Democratic Rep. Tulsi Gabbard used the day to remind Americans that “we live in perilous times” and urged them to “reflect on the ideals of freedom enshrined in the Constitution, the foundation of our republic.”

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis posted one of his longest posts Thursday morning, reiterating what was at stake for the Founding Fathers.
“Two hundred and forty-eight years ago, 56 men signed a declaration declaring independence from Great Britain and asserting that individual rights are gifts from God, not the gift of the state. They pledged their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor to the cause,” he said, explaining that their signatures “served as their own death warrant if the revolution failed.”
“They were leading, not following. Most people in the colonies remained loyal to the British Crown or didn’t want to take sides. The fight ahead was going to be hard, and they had no chance of actually winning against the most powerful country on Earth,” DeSantis continued.
The final victory in the War for Independence, fueled by the inspiring words of the Declaration of Independence, remains a turning point in history.
“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”
