Reputation is a big deal in the NFL. You might think that with ten winless teams over two weeks, and several of them missing the playoffs last season, there’s not much to expect from eight of them. Interestingly, the lower half of the standings closely mirrors the early ranks of the 2025 NFL Draft.
Among the other two teams is the Texans, who have recently claimed the AFC South title—don’t count them out just yet.
And then there’s the Chiefs.
How do we assess a team that has made it to three consecutive Super Bowls? Is this a sign of the end for their dynasty? Or are they just struggling early on in a challenging schedule, perhaps while some key players sit out?
Should we really be prepared to write off a Hall of Fame coach alongside Hall of Fame quarterbacks, premier pass catchers, and one of the top defensive coordinators in the game?
This week’s NFL power rankings paint a different picture for the Chiefs compared to other 0-2 teams.
1. Bills 2-0 (1)
In a commanding 30-10 win over the Jets, Josh Allen had a brief setback due to a bloody nose but played second fiddle to James Cook, who rushed for 132 yards and two touchdowns. Despite Ed Oliver being sidelined, the defense allowed a mere 154 total yards, the lowest in a road game since 1990.
2. Eagles 2-0 (2)
The defending champs edged out the Chiefs 20-17 in a Super Bowl rematch, even with Jalen Hurts hurt and Saquon Barkley scoring a touchdown. The Eagles have now gone 17-1 in their last 18 outings, including a streak of seven wins despite only passing for 101 yards last game. Jake Elliott’s 58-yard field goal just before halftime was crucial.
3. Packers 2-0 (3)
Jordan Love threw for 292 yards and orchestrated a crucial touchdown drive for a 90-yard victory against the Commanders. Tuckercraft added six receptions for 124 yards and a touchdown, while Mika Parsons contributed to the Packers’ defense, collecting one of four sacks.
4. Ravens 1-1 (4)
Lamar Jackson overcame a slow start against his former mentor, Joe Flacco. The Ravens eventually threw four touchdown passes in a 41-17 smash of the Browns, with defense scoring or setting short fields for offenses on most touchdowns. Devontes Walker scored two of them.
5. Chargers 2-0 (5)
After besting the Raiders, the Chargers have kicked off with two division wins this season, the first time since Jim Harbaugh took the helm. Post last season’s struggles with the Bears, Keenan Allen seems revived, catching deep passes from Justin Herbert once more.
6. Lions 1-1 (7)
Jared Goff hit a career high with five touchdown passes in a 52-21 rout of the Bears—three of those touchdowns went to Amon-Ra St. Brown. The Lions recorded a franchise-high average of 8.8 yards per play, with Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery also finding the end zone.
7. Chiefs 0-2 (6)
The Chiefs fell to 0-2 for the first time since 2014 after their loss to the Eagles. Mahomes, although intercepted once, was the team’s leading rusher with 66 yards and a touchdown.
8. Buccaneers 2-0 (10)
In a nail-biting finish, Rachaad White not only recovered Baker Mayfield’s fumble but also scored the winning touchdown in a 20-19 victory against the Texans. Mayfield passed for 215 yards and drove the team down the field in the final moments.
9. Rams 2-0 (11)
Despite trailing late in the third quarter, the Rams scored 20 unanswered points, wrapping up a 33-19 victory against the Titans. Matthew Stafford threw for 298 yards, targeting Davante Adams and seeing Pukanakua rack up 134 scrimmage yards.
10. Colts 2-0 (16)
Spencer Shuladerer redeemed himself, winning a close game against the Broncos with a key 45-yard play that secured the 29-28 victory. Daniel Jones had his first 300-yard passing game for the Giants since September 2023, and the Colts have yet to commit a turnover through two games.
11. Commanders 1-1 (8)
12. Broncos 1-1 (9)
13. Bengals 2-0 (12)
14. 49ers 2-0 (13)
15. Cowboys 1-1 (14)
16. Falcons 1-1 (18)
17. Cardinals 2-0 (21)
18. Seahawks 1-1 (24)
19. Vikings 1-1 (17)
20. Steelers 1-1 (15)
21. Texans 0-2 (20)
22. Raiders 1-1 (19)
23. Patriots 1-1 (25)
24. Jaguars 1-1 (22)
25. Giants 0-2 (28)
The Giants suffered their ninth consecutive loss to the Cowboys, culminating in a momentous play by Brandon Aubrey, who became the first kicker in NFL history to successfully score with a violation expired. The day was characterized by multiple penalties and an impressive passing effort from Russell Wilson, who racked up 450 yards, but alas, it wasn’t enough in a 40-37 defeat.
26. Titans 0-2 (29)
27. Jets 0-2 (26)
Justin Fields’ hype train hit the brakes after an underwhelming performance following a prior standout showing. He completed only 3 out of 11 passes for a mere 27 yards and was sidelined with a concussion. The Jets struggled, failing to convert on their first 11 third downs until their final touchdown drive.
