'The Chosen' Actors Cry During Crucifixion Scene in Touching Behind-the-Scenes Clip

A new behind-the-scenes video from I Was Chosen captures the emotional experiences of the cast during season 6. In a scene linked to the Crucifixion, actors were seen crying while filming. This two-minute clip, shot in Italy, doesn’t include actor Jonathan Roomy as Jesus but highlights the raw emotions displayed on set. For instance, actress Elizabeth Tabish, portraying Mary Magdalene, can be seen crying while filming before stepping off set, where she is comforted by director Dallas Jenkins. Lala Silva (Eden) and Ambershana Williams (Tammer) also exhibit similar emotional responses.

At the end of the video, a visibly drained Jenkins receives support from his wife, Amanda.

This video has attracted over 800,000 views and sparked numerous comments from fans. One fan remarked, "If the actors and the entire team were still sobbing after filming that scene, how are we going to handle it?" while another shared, "I’ll hold back my own tears. This was a sneak peek."

Although Roomy isn’t featured, the video hints at what viewers can expect. It includes a shot of two criminals being crucified, with filming taking place on a dusty hillside in Matera, Italy.

The initial episodes of season 6 are planned for release later next year. In May, Lumie expressed that the portrayal of Jesus during the Crucifixion was a unique experience compared to previous filming.

"It’s more of a responsibility than pressure. It’s a sacred responsibility," he noted.

According to him, the essence of the series is to guide people toward Christ.

"This is all just an offering to him and a way to reach people deeply," he added.
