The Combined Paramount-Warner Bros. Will Be Named 'Skydance'

David Ellison Announces New Corporation Name Following Paramount-Skydance and Warner Bros-Discovery Merger

David Ellison is just days away from realizing his significant merger between Paramount-Skydance and Warner Bros-Discovery. He recently took to Elon Musk’s X platform to reveal that the new company will be named simply “Skydance.”

Ellison expressed on X, “What once was the peak, is now just the beginning.”

He further stated, “Paramount and Warner Bros. shaped over a century of culture. By combining them, we aren’t rewriting history—we’re equipping these iconic studios with a more powerful engine. Together, we are Skydance: a creative-first home for bold, quality storytelling.”

Ellison emphasized the reasoning behind the name choice, saying, “We chose this name for a few important reasons. First and foremost, as we bring Paramount and Warner Bros. together, we wanted to preserve what has made each of these studios iconic. Both have distinct identities, extraordinary legacies, and brands that have resonated with audiences for generations.”

Additionally, he noted, “We never wanted a new corporate identity to diminish, alter, or overshadow either one. Instead, we wanted a name that would give the combined company an identity of its own while allowing Paramount and Warner Bros.—and all our extraordinary brands—to remain in the spotlight.”

I personally thought a name like Mount Warner would be fun, but I guess that doesn’t matter now. Anyway, here’s the whole announcement:

The name choice is logical. Merging the two studio names would have the risk of making one seem inferior, which is the last thing Ellison wants. Plus, “Skydance” is not just good; it’s an ambitious name that aligns with Ellison’s own brand.

The news of this merger is generating excitement among many, particularly those hoping for a shift away from the longstanding liberal grip on films, television, and corporate media.

However, I think we should be cautious.

I’ve been observing these organizations for many years, and in a professional capacity for over two decades, so my optimism is limited. The left seems deeply entrenched and, quite frankly, relentless; they may resort to various tactics—like strikes and leaks—before allowing any real change.

To be honest, I’m not even looking for MAGA-themed films from Skydance. The idea of them doesn’t appeal to me at all.

What I truly desire is for movies to return to being entertaining, inspiring, and enlightening.

And I wish for films to stop attacking, lecturing, and trying to push certain agendas on us.

Sadly, even these modest wishes feel out of reach today, even from someone like David Ellison.

At this point, my hopes rest with user-generated content. I believe that soon, AI advancements will provide everyday people with the tools to create quality entertainment akin to Hollywood. If there’s going to be any cultural shift, I think it will come from that, rather than through the merger of two companies filled with individuals resistant to any real reform.

Overall, I find myself turning back to my Blu-Ray collection more often these days.
