Charges Against Eric Swalwell’s Backer
This week, Eric Swalwell’s financial supporter, Stephen Krubeck, was arrested on charges related to felony witness tampering. Prosecutors allege that his actions included threats to three male witnesses who were set to testify against Krubeck’s fiancée, Adva Ravi. According to the Los Angeles Times, the charges involve “express and implicit threats of force and violence.” Krubeck, 64, a real estate billionaire who previously funded Swalwell’s gubernatorial run before parting ways, turned himself in at the West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station.
Krubeck has been charged with three felony counts for hindering a witness and a misdemeanor count for making nuisance phone calls. The latter stems from a reported incident where he allegedly called his fiancée’s attorney, Lou Shapiro, to threaten him and his family. The Los Angeles Magazine provided further details on the situation.
Krubeck’s attorney, Elias Davai, stated that they believe the charges are unfounded and are looking forward to court. Interestingly, Krubeck’s civil attorney, David Hochman, is affiliated with Glaser Weil, alongside Davai. Notably, Krubeck’s brother, Nathan Hockman, serves as the District Attorney of Los Angeles County, where the charges were filed.
On a separate note, OnlyFans model Lavie, known as Mia Ventura online, has pleaded not guilty to several serious charges, such as grand theft and identity theft. If found guilty, she might face over 11 years in prison, according to reports.
Krubeck was a significant financial contributor to Swalwell, channeling around $1 million into a super PAC supporting former Rep. Forbes, with an additional $39,200 listed for direct campaign contributions in 2025 through the California Secretary of State’s records.
Further complicating matters, Klubeck reportedly expelled Swalwell from his residence after sexual assault allegations against the former congressman came to light. A former federal prosecutor noted the severity of the crimes, highlighting that they could result in substantial prison time, especially if violence is involved.
Krubeck’s romantic history has seen its share of courtroom drama too. In 2021, he sued OnlyFans model Stephanie Grzanski, alleging fraud after spending $1.3 million during a brief romantic involvement. The response from Grzanski’s attorney suggested that Krubeck sought to financially and emotionally damage her after their relationship ended.
An arraignment is set for August 7.
