Response to Charlie Kirk’s Assassination
In a recent statement, Eric Trump, the eldest son of Donald Trump, commented on the assassination of activist Charlie Kirk, suggesting it has “woken up” the conservative movement in America. He expressed that he has noticed a surge in energy and enthusiasm among conservatives following the tragic event.
“This issue goes beyond just young people. In the last few days, it’s clear that everyone is acknowledging the incredible youth movement Charlie cultivated,” Trump remarked during an interview on Fox News’ Sunday Morning Futures.
He lamented that Kirk’s death represents a significant blow to multiple facets of society—conservatism, Christianity, and individual freedoms. “This is a major attack on our country and our beliefs,” he asserted, referring to the circumstances of Kirk’s murder at an event in Utah.
Trump further stated that the actions leading to Kirk’s death might have backfired on those who oppose him, emphasizing a potentially unifying effect for conservatives. “They’ve possibly made one of the biggest mistakes in history,” he said.
Kirk’s widow, Erica, offered her own poignant remarks, indicating her emotional turmoil during a public address. Meanwhile, Eric Trump, who serves as executive vice president at the Trump Organization, announced that a portion of the proceeds from his upcoming book, “Under Siege,” will support Turning Point USA in Kirk’s honor.
In discussing his book, Trump noted that had Kirk’s assassination occurred earlier, it might have inspired an entire chapter focusing on the challenges faced by conservative voices. He described the ongoing battle against efforts to silence influential figures within their movement.
Kirk, who was also a family man with two children, was tragically shot by Tyler Robinson, a 22-year-old student, while he was speaking at Utah Valley University. The shooter appears to have been influenced by radical far-left ideologies online.
Throughout his career, Kirk was recognized for mobilizing young conservatives to engage politically, drawing support for figures like Eric’s father, President Trump. His initiatives often brought influential voices to college campuses to discuss pressing issues.
Eric Trump expressed his belief that Kirk was instrumental in helping his father secure significant political support during the last presidential election. “That was thanks to Charlie’s efforts and the dedication of conservatives like all of us,” he said. “I’ve been actively involved for years, and I won’t silence our voices. Charlie bravely confronted the challenges at these campuses and made a lasting impact on youth voting in this country.”
