The decade-long drought hanging over the struggling Jets' journey to Miami for Monday Night Football

Jets and Dolphins Seek First Victory of the Season

Miami Gardens, Fla. – It’s both early and late in the season for the Jets and Dolphins.

The two rivals from the AFC East will clash on Monday night, each looking for their first win of the year. Both teams enter this matchup with a 0-3 record and a critical need for a victory.

The Jets suffered a heartbreaking loss to the Buccaneers last week, conceding a field goal in the final moments. Meanwhile, the Dolphins were edged out by the Bills in a game that surprised many with its closeness.

Though these losses could be seen as moral victories, both squads understand they need a tangible win. “I’m not shaken up by this at all. I’m confident in our players,” said Jets coach Aaron Glenn. “I believe in our coaching staff, but we are working hard to improve.”

The Jets are aiming to avoid their first 0-4 start since 2020, when they finished with a 2-14 record after beginning the season 0-13. On the other hand, the Dolphins haven’t faced an 0-4 start since 2019.

The Dolphins faced a tough start, with a blowout loss to the Colts in week one, and narrow defeats against the Patriots and Bills, resulting in a troubling 97 points allowed so far.

Coach Mike McDaniel appears to be feeling the pressure as he acknowledged the need for improvement. “The team has shown signs of growth over the past few weeks, and we’re optimistic about our chances on Sundays,” he stated. “However, we still have goals to reach and can’t allow ourselves to repeat the same mistakes.”

This upcoming game feels unusual, as neither team has found their footing this season.

The Jets had opportunities that slipped away, missing a potential fumble recovery and an interception. Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has struggled, throwing four interceptions in a single game.

Interestingly, the Jets haven’t secured a true road game in Miami since December 28, 2014, which was Rex Ryan’s final game as coach. They did manage a win against the Dolphins as a “road team” in London the following year, but have since gone on to lose their last nine encounters in Miami.
