The events to watch at the Paris Olympics on Friday, August 9

The Olympics are gradually drawing to a close, but the 14th day is still packed with events.

With a star-studded lineup that includes A’ja Wilson, Breanna Stewart and Sabrina Ionescu, the U.S. women’s basketball team will be looking to build on their huge Olympic success.

The team has not lost at the Olympics since 1992 and will face Australia for the gold medal at 11:30 a.m.

Following that, at 1:30 p.m., American athletes will be aiming for the gold medal in the women’s 4 x 100 meter relay final.

In the first relay heat, speedy sprinters Gabby Thomas, Shakyari Richardson, Melissa Jefferson and Towanisha Terry won handily with a best time of 41.94 seconds.

The German team, which did not compete in the final, came in second in the qualifying round, 0.21 seconds behind the US team.
