Bryn Whitfield’s departure from “The Real Housewives of New York City” seems to be welcomed by her co-stars.
An insider mentioned that the cast has largely distanced themselves from Whitfield and feels reassured knowing that not all the women will be returning. “Whether or not any of them stick around, they’re just happy that Bryn is out. Honestly, after all the drama from last season, I think I’d be a bit intimidated to film with her again,” the source added.
Representatives from Bravo and Whitfield have yet to respond to requests for comments.
In an Instagram story posted on Monday, Whitfield expressed her feelings about leaving reality TV after two seasons. She also highlighted a significant milestone for Hoppy, a dating app she co-founded, stating, “I can’t even describe how surreal this feels. I want to focus all my energy on making Hoppy the best dating app out there.”
Whitfield, 39, reflected on her time on the show by calling it a “magical” chapter in her life. She noted the honor of helping to revitalize the iconic franchise, which she believes is largely fan-driven.
She was part of the rebooted series this year, alongside Jenna Lyons, Sai de Silva, Uba Hassan, Erin Lihee, and Jesel Tank. Her announcement follows a particularly explosive season finale that left her in conflict with some castmates. This conflict arose when she alleged that Uba Hassan had referred to her as a “prostitute,” despite knowing about her history as a sexual assault survivor.
Whitfield claimed that Hassan was aware of her traumatic past. Following a confrontation initiated by Tank, Hassan has denied any knowledge of Whitfield’s experiences. Their exchange escalated significantly, resulting in tensions not only between the two but also involving the wider cast.
In May, reports surfaced that Bravo was halting the show for a while, with intentions to restructure the franchise. However, executives remain hopeful about revamping it. After Andy Cohen confirmed that casting is underway, it’s noted that producers have already met with “10 potential new” housewives.
