Holly Campbell Opens Up About Life with Dan Campbell

Holly Campbell, wife of Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell, is open about her experiences both on and off the football field. Recently, during an appearance on the “Sunday Sports Club” podcast, she shared some candid moments about her life with Dan.

This past year, for her 50th birthday, Dan surprised her with a cake that was, well, very much in line with his profession. “It was actually really sweet, but it was Honolulu blue,” Holly remarked, referring to the Lions’ team colors.

“It’s my 50th birthday—I’ve been on this earth for five decades. Did it really have to be a football cake?” she joked, highlighting how football tends to be a constant presence in their lives.

While discussing their shared NFL experiences with podcast host Allison Cucci, who is married to former NFL player Isaac Rochell, they both found humor in their everyday realities of being part of the football world.

When Cucci inquired about a “no football zone” at home, Holly’s response was candid. “No football zone? Well, sometimes I wish there were. There are moments on dates when I wonder if we can chat about, you know, anything other than football?”

Holly did note that there’s some enjoyment in discussing the sport since “they understand everything,” adding light humor about the emotional nature of the players.

The couple has been together since 1999, the same year that Dan was drafted by the Giants in the NFL. Since then, Holly has been a steadfast support, standing by Dan through his decade-long playing career and now in his coaching role.

Dan began his coaching journey with the Miami Dolphins and later with the New Orleans Saints before taking the helm of the Lions in 2021. Together, they share two children, Cody and Piper.

Recently, the Lions faced a challenging season, losing to the Minnesota Vikings which unfortunately ended their hopes for the playoffs after back-to-back NFC North titles.
