‘The Great British Baking Show’ Cuts Noel Fielding Joke Too Risqué for the Tent

'The Great British Baking Show' Cuts Noel Fielding Joke Too Risqué for the Tent

Great British Baking Show Recap

I have to say, I really enjoy a good bit of humor. We’re only three weeks into the 2025 season of Great British Baking Show on Netflix, and already there’s some playful banter. I mean, there’s a confident contestant named Nadia Mercuri who seems to have her eyes set on both Paul Hollywood and, well, the “thicker box” as she puts it.

The latest episode, “Pan Week,” features a cheeky moment involving Noel Fielding. He’s known for his mischievous, sometimes risqué humor, which has prompted the show’s producers to keep things a bit under wraps. While Aaron Mountford Miles and Nadia bond over talk about “holes” and “glazed rings,” one has to wonder—did Noel go a step too far with his tea towel joke?

**Spoiler Alert for Great British Baking Show “Pan Week” on Netflix**

Humor has always been central to the appeal of Great British Baking Show. You have contestants tackling their baking challenges, all while trying to impress judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith. The hosts, Noel and Alison Hammond, add an extra layer of fun with their lively interactions that help audience members connect with the bakers—and, let’s face it, they often induce some laughs too. Who could forget the moments when Alison, for instance, just falls off the counter or accidentally ruins someone’s caramel? And this week, well, there was that visual punchline that had people talking.

During the early portion of “Pan Week,” Alison spots contestant Jasmine Mitchell’s cute tea towel. Jasmine has previously used it for covering dough, but Alison has an idea for another trick. She starts showing Jasmine how to hold the towels by the corners and, with a flick of the wrist, how to make something pop out of the center.

Once Jasmine gets the hang of this fun little gag, Alison nudges her to show Noel. He sees what’s happening, laughs, and gets drawn into the moment.

“I’ll show you this trick,” Noel says with a playful glint in his eye. “But just one change.”

He takes the tea towel—mimicking what Alison and Jasmine just did—and then brings it down in a way that, well, has a suggestive twist to it.

Just as he’s about to make the visual connection, the camera cuts to Leslie Holloway, a 59-year-old contestant, which cleverly obscures Noel’s antics and highlights the somewhat taboo nature of the joke.

Honestly, it felt surprising that this episode had been censored, especially alongside Tom’s joke about chocolate resembling poop and Aaron’s commentary on “hole size.” It seems that the visual gag might’ve crossed a line more than just the usual cheeky remarks that fly around the tent.

Nevertheless, Noel Fielding faced some censoring this week on Great British Baking Show.
