The House anti-Semitism bill is a hate speech law in disguise. Don’t fall for it.

As protests continue to rage across the country, the House of Representatives passed an anti-anti-Semitism bill Wednesday that would crack down on anti-Semitism on college campuses. The bill would require the Department of Education to adopt the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance’s definition of anti-Semitism when enforcing the Civil Rights Act of 1964 on college campuses.

what exactly is International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance Definition of anti-Semitism? The organization defines it as:

Certain perceptions of Jews. It may be expressed as hatred against Jews. Rhetorical and physical expressions of anti-Semitism are directed against Jewish or non-Jewish individuals and/or their property, Jewish community organizations, and religious institutions.

Examples of anti-Semitism include:

Calling for, supporting, or justifying the killing or harm of Jews in the name of extremist ideology or religious views. …accusing Jews as a people or Israel as a nation of fabricating or exaggerating the Holocaust.

of “Fighting Anti-Semitism” movement He praised the bill as a “significant accomplishment” and urged its passage in the Senate to send it to Biden’s desk.

Something can be legally permissible and morally repugnant at the same time. The constitution must govern.

Twenty House Republicans opposed the bill, including Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.), who called it a hidden “hate speech bill.” “Anti-Semitism is wrong, but this bill was written without regard for the Constitution, common sense or even a common understanding of the meaning of words,” Gaetz said. “The Gospel itself would fall under the definition of anti-Semitism under the provisions of this bill!”

Democratic lawmakers, including House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries of New York, are pushing for the bill to pass in the Senate. He will reportedly combat anti-Semitism by appointing a new chief of staff to the president who will be responsible for implementing the White House’s coordinated strategy to combat anti-Semitism.

What could go wrong here?

“Efforts to quell anti-Semitism and hatred in any form are not a Democratic or Republican issue.” jeffries said Monday. “This is an American problem that must be addressed with great urgency and bipartisanship now.”

After all, gang, say it with me: Something has to be done!

When I hear people say things like, “Jews killed Jesus,” or “Those dirty Jews run the world,” or “They’re only saying this because they have Zionist masters,” my heart breaks. I think inside. . ” You have no idea what’s really going on in the world.

Are there Jews at the top of the company? Of course there is. Are there any Jews who happen to be very successful bankers? of course. But there are also many successful bankers who are Catholics, Mormons, Lutherans, Methodists, and, dare I say it, atheists. But are the Jews the problem?

You know how I feel about anti-Semitism. You know how I feel about the Holocaust. If you’re like me, a strong supporter of Israeli Jews, you’d think I’d be all for this. But I’m adamantly against it, and you should too. Something can be legally permissible and morally repugnant at the same time. The constitution must govern. The Constitution should be a set of principles that we must not violate, even if it blocks your way or works against you.

If you think there is a Jewish cabal, you are an idiot. You shouldn’t run away saying things like this. The appropriate response to this bill is to stop posting memes of long-nosed Jews wrapping tentacles around the American flag. Just because I’m against the bill doesn’t mean I condone your opinion. You can say such horrible things because our Constitution guarantees it. Speech must be protected. We need to protect not only what we all agree to, but also what we don’t specifically agree to.

Congress doesn’t understand this. Hatred cannot be eradicated by law. If you pass legislation that restricts the types of speech, all you do is create a haven for hate. Their apologists burrow into closets where their voices are not heard, and it becomes a bloated pool of hate that will one day erupt. Does that mean protesters can prevent Jewish students from entering classrooms? No, it’s not a speech. That is harassment that should be punished.

I’m sure those who voted for this bill had good intentions. But they are misguided by human nature itself. Government cannot heal people’s hearts. Only God can remove hatred from the heart. They should all be sent back to some kind of remedial class based on the principles of the American Constitution.

This is about the importance of free speech, and the importance of not rushing to bad solutions just because anti-Semitism is scary right now.

Why can this Congress only pass legislation that seemingly undermines America’s power and tramples on the Constitution?

They just took away the Fourth Amendment right to warrantless searches with the new FISA update. They just passed another bill allowing Palestinian refugees into the country. What’s wrong with these people? I don’t live in an upside down world. that’s right. I still live in a world where America protects the rights of its citizens. It’s a dark day when only 20 Republicans are standing up against this affront to the First Amendment.

In the words of George Washington, we did not overthrow one dictator just to replace him with another. Americans are concerned, and I am concerned, that we are moving toward a dictatorship. Anti-anti-Semitism laws overthrow one form of oppression by replacing it with another.

Alert all MPs. If this bill passes, it will be used against you.
