They finally accomplished it.
After fans (myself included) have been begging for the return of retro jerseys for years, the Jacksonville Jaguars finally got their wish, bringing back their 1999 uniforms to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the NFL franchise. They’re beautiful.
This was one of my favorite moments as a Jaguars fan. Seeing Leon Searcy rapping over the uniform trailer and old Jaguars footage just brought a smile to my face. Words can’t describe it. Honoring those who came before was a super cool aspect that the Jaguars pulled off perfectly, and in doing so brought back the best uniform in Jaguars history.
Also, look at this uniform – the Big Cat is back on the shoulders! The curved numbers give the uniform even more personality, as does the little yellow shading on the numbers.
The Jaguars will wear it in their Week 5 game against the Colts, the same week former head coach Tom Coughlin will be added to Jaguars pride — the Jaguars’ very own ring of honor. It’ll feel like 1999 again.
These are the best nostalgia games in the NFL right now: I don’t make the rules.
