David Hogg, the vice-chairman of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and a prominent advocate for gun control, emphasized the need for more representatives like Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX), praising her resistance against the Trump administration.
Hogg, who has recently faced some controversies himself, expressed his thoughts on the progressive legislator during a Friday appearance on a radio show. The DNC is reportedly considering his position due to these issues.
“I really admire her. She’s something else,” the 25-year-old Hogg told host Charlamagne Tha God. “People want to see leaders who stand up and fight back. That’s really what Jasmine does, and I believe we need more people who are willing to step up,” he added.
“In many ways, I think Jasmine represents the kind of leadership we want to support,” he continued. “Honestly, some people there don’t seem to care about listening to the other side. They just stick to their beliefs,” he said.
Recently, Crockett has criticized Republican lawmakers who claim to uphold Christian values while seeking to reform the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), suggesting they’re “prepared to let people go hungry.”
Crockett has also defended Rep. Lamonica McQuiver (D-NJ), especially regarding criticisms stemming from the alleged roles of certain law enforcement officials in immigration and customs enforcement operations in New Jersey.
