If there was a competition for servile patronage, our insufferable Fourth Estate would win gold, silver and bronze.
The bizarre opening ceremony of this year’s Summer Olympics, featuring twirling drag queens, bore a striking resemblance to Da Vinci’s famous “The Last Supper” and was enough to catch the attention of even the least religious people.
Rather, the fact that The Last Supper is still widely recognized and acts of sacrilege can still occur shows how fallen we are.
Media outlets like MSNBC were happy to acknowledge it, if only to mock the “moral panic” of Christians who wondered what the spectacle of half-naked “pro-fat” people had to do with respecting the spirit of amateur sports excellence.
When that was over, they accepted the new view with equal satisfaction.AxleyClearly, the ritual was a nod to the Greco-Roman “Feasts of the Gods,” the frenzied Dionysian celebrations of the immortals on Mount Olympus. Blue Smurf Devil It was all about that. Stupid Christians!”
Let’s assume the “Last Supper” connotation is entirely coincidental, but still, this performance was terrible.
Dionysus, like most of the gods in mythology, is a terrifying figure. God of fertility, wine, theater, pleasure, madness, and social contagion, Dionysus demanded ritual sacrifices as a form of worship. According to one legend, when the people of Argos ignored him, he drove the mothers mad, turning them into cannibals and killing their children.
It’s hard not to think of today’s crazed mothers, seduced by the god of affirmation and tempted to mutilate their children. It’s a chilling coincidence that Kamala Harris chose “RuPaul’s Drag Race” as the platform to launch her campaign just days before these nasty gender demons are set to step onto the world stage.
After years of doing “drag story hours” and daytime drag shows in public squares, it’s hard to accept their claims of innocence. Drag queens are inherently sexual. That’s all there is to it, or one of them.
And let’s stop pretending that there aren’t groups of drag queens who deliberately mock Christianity. At sporting events They face no repercussions because they are worshipped by the activist class that occupies the media.
With a touch of propaganda, the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence are positioned as a Christian charity movement against evil – an irony that would not exist without centuries of devotion to Christian victims.
This is entirely consistent with the popular habit of scholars and activists who groan at the mention of God. Imagine a snake, a predator that pretends to be inferior in order to gain power.
NBC Condemned Conservative, Forbes Condemned Rob Schneider and many other reputable media outlets have demonized Christians and deified drag queens. NBC I hesitated. “While some fans loved this unashamed display of French camp and kitsch, others, particularly those of conservative or Christian faith, were not pleased.”
Ah, so that’s what it was. Harmless “camp.” This hilariously irreverent pagan celebration takes place in a country whose history is so intertwined with the rise of Christianity that it is often called the church’s eldest daughter. Like most of Europe, the country barely clings to the Christian traditions central to its national identity.
Rather, the fact that “The Last Supper” is still widely recognized – that acts of sacrilege are still possible – shows how fallen we are.
None of this should be overshadowed by the athletes who have come from all over the world to compete in Paris. As always, this summer’s Olympics are a testament to brave men and women who push their God-given bodies and minds to the limit.
But the dark, ancient forces to which these games are dedicated should serve as a solemn reminder of a battle that will continue long after the medals are counted.
