New Survey Highlights Best Amusement Parks in America
A recent survey has identified the top amusement parks in the United States, and the results might catch you off guard—at least a little.
TripAdvisor published its “Doing the Best is the Best” report, compiled from millions of reviews and feedback from the TripAdvisor community over the last year.
“Get ready to scream, splash, and soar into your favorite world at these award-winning parks,” the report states, ranking various amusement and water parks.
Dollywood Takes the Crown
First on the list is Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, earning a rating of 4.3 out of five.
Owned partially by the beloved Dolly Parton—who has roots in the Smoky Mountains—Dollywood offers a vibrant experience. The park covers over 160 acres and features around 50 rides.
According to TripAdvisor, it includes a museum dedicated to Dolly Parton and another focused on high-speed roller coasters, plus plenty of thrill rides.
Dollywood stands out not just in rides but also in customer experience. One reviewer mentioned, “I had a great time at this theme park,” appreciating amenities like shaded areas and free ice water on a hot day.
Dollywood’s commitment to guest comfort includes features like fans throughout the park. That kind of care seems to resonate well with visitors.
In a surprising twist, Dollywood ranked above both Disney’s Magic Kingdom, which came in second, and Universal Park.
Other Notable Parks
Knoebels Amusement Resort in Elysburg, Pennsylvania, snagged third place. This family-run park has been delighting visitors since 1926, and it’s noted as the largest free-entry amusement park in the country. Its attractions range from roller coasters to swimming, camping, and even a championship golf course.
Fourth place went to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Bay Lake, Florida, which features thrill rides like the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror and the Aerosmith-themed Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster.
Rounding out the top five is Universal Adventure Island in Orlando, which is famous for its immersive experiences, including a magical world inspired by Harry Potter.
All in all, these parks show a diverse range of entertainment options, from high-energy thrill rides to family-friendly attractions. They each seem to offer something unique, capturing the hearts of visitors across the country.
