The Lions’ fake fumble touchdown pass is their best trick play yet

of detroit lions are the greatest trick play team in the NFL, and it feels like they're introducing a new team every week. We've seen Detroit score with the “hook and ladder.” I’ve seen them find the end zone with reverse chisel flickers. What we have seen is Lions throw a touchdown to a lineman.

The Lions' offensive coordinator pulled off a new trick play when his team faced a lower-ranked team. chicago bears Week 16 at Soldier Field, and I honestly don't know if I've ever seen this before. With the Lions already leading by a large margin early in the second half, a running back dove to the ground and completed a fake fumble before the Lions fired an open touchdown pass.

Creativity here is 10 out of 10. Check out Detroit's latest trick play here.

Watch the running back dive and pretend to pounce on the loose ball. This is genius.

This play legitimately fooled the Bears' defense. Chicago defensive back Jonathan Owens (aka Mr. Simone Biles) bit the fake, leaving enough space for Sam LaPorta to break out and score.

Ben Johnson always has new plays up his sleeve. The Bears always find creative ways to embarrass themselves. Chicago fans have been clamoring for the team to hire Johnson as their new head coach this offseason, but so far he's been working his way around them in Detroit.
