During Thursday’s “CNN News Central,” Senator Jeff Merkley (D-OR) expressed optimism about the mineral trade between the US and Ukraine, noting that he’s thankful for President Donald Trump’s shift in strategy.
“What I find encouraging is the formation of a partnership between the Trump administration and Ukraine. It’s almost like everything he does is a repeat of what he’s said before. There’s potential for an investment fund where both sides contribute financially,” Merkley stated.
Co-host Kate Bordian then inquired, “Are you willing to credit President Trump for making this happen?”
“I appreciate the shift in tone and commitment. I actually noticed different dynamics in body language at the funeral of the Italian Pope, signaling something has changed,” Merkley responded.
