The More Biden Talks in Debate, the Better It’s Going to be for Trump

BELGRADE, Montana — Sen. Steve Daines (R-Mont.), chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) and former President Donald Trump’s top ally, told Breitbart News exclusively that there’s only one thing Democrat President Joe Biden can do to help Trump in Thursday’s debate: talk.

“The more Joe Biden talks in this debate, the better it is for President Trump,” Daines told Breitbart News in an extended, exclusive, on-camera interview at his home outside his hometown of Bozeman, Montana.

Daines sat down for a lengthy interview with Breitbart News on Monday afternoon to outline the Republican senator’s plan to retake the U.S. Senate majority in November and the broader significance of the election. In the broader hour-long interview that follows, the Republican senator who is responsible for leading the GOP’s 2024 election strategy detailed for the first time his plans and the major issues facing the country, as well as his close working relationship with Trump. In this clip from the interview, Daines focuses on Thursday’s presidential debate, saying he thinks if Trump stays true to the issues and fundamentals but allows Biden to crumble on such a huge stage, the former president will win handily.

Daines also said Democrats will need to keep Biden caffeinated to hold him through Thursday night.

“You’d probably have to drink five or six Red Bulls to get Joe Biden fired up, but there’s an old saying in politics: ‘Don’t be a shadow when your enemy is melting,'” Daines said.

Daines also likened Trump to a Masters-winning golfer who is in the lead heading into the final hole, ready to clinch the victory and claim the green jacket.

“So if President Trump is leading by a few strokes on the 18th hole at Augusta and Joe Biden is a few strokes ahead, he just has to hit it down the middle of the fairway, get it on the green and sink the putt,” Daines said. “That’s what we need from President Trump. Give Joe Biden a driver and let him hit it. He’ll hit it about 40 yards out of bounds. I think that’s what President Biden will make it look like. And by the way, when President Trump met with us senators, you saw a President Trump that really, really brings us all together. There were people in that room who were longtime enemies of President Trump. President Trump has gone way beyond that. I think what’s important for him is to stay focused on issues like inflation, the border, what’s going on in the world, a strong position with Israel. I think he’s going to crush Biden in the debate.”
