It's all strange, and the more one looks into the assassin's background the stranger it gets. Ryan Routh Routh did not have the typical background of an assassin. His father was a highly educated chemist who worked for Sherwin-Williams for many years. The family attended church every Sunday. Routh's two brothers became bankers and lawyers. Routh was described in the local paper as a “super citizen.”

The local police association named him citizen of the year after he saved a woman from a rapist. He told the town's newspaper, “He hit me. He was pretty strong, short but strong. When he hit me, I grabbed him. He shook me off and ran away.”
