The most popular food searches for 2025 show nationwide trending recipes.

According to a new report, American home cooking trends for 2025 will focus on comforting, protein-rich dishes, vibrant vegetables, and bold flavors. There’s also a notable emphasis on affordable recipes that cater to busy lifestyles and tighter budgets.

Google’s latest list of the top ten viral food searches in the U.S. highlights that home cooks are leaning toward satisfying meals that are both easy to prepare and nutritious. From cottage cheese bowls to grilled cabbage, it seems everyone is searching for ways to create delicious home-cooked meals.

Emmy Clinton, a recipe creator based in Colorado, notes that these trends aren’t just about what’s popular—they reflect a shift in culture. “People want to enjoy their food choices, but without compromising on flavor or joy,” she mentioned.

She added that rising costs have pushed many to be more inventive and simplistic in their cooking. “And honestly, it’s given us some fun new recipes,” she remarked.

1. Hot Honey Cottage Cheese Bowl

This year’s most sought-after recipe features hot honey, sweet potatoes, ground beef, cottage cheese, and avocado, reflecting a sweet and spicy trend that began with Mike’s Hot Honey. The combination is packed with protein and flavor.

Chuck Hayworth, a private chef from North Carolina, noted that inflation has spurred creativity in meal prep, leading people to experiment more with accessible ingredients like cottage cheese.

2. Gyoza-yaki

This one-pan dish involves baking frozen dumplings in a coconut milk sauce infused with Thai red curry. Pretty straightforward, right? The key is the simplicity people are seeking in their cooking.

Clinton emphasizes her approach: “My quick recipes with fewer ingredients are often much better than those that take longer.” It’s about keeping things easy.

3. Boiled Cabbage

Recipes for boiled cabbage are gaining popularity, generally featuring whole cabbage seasoned with spices and broth, baked until tender. There’s also a trend for boiled onions, resulting in similarly delicious side dishes.

4. Life-Changing Lettuce Salad

This viral recipe shows how simple ingredients like crunchy iceberg lettuce, garlic, lemon juice, and olive oil can create something surprisingly refreshing and addictively tasty.

5. Carrot Ribbon Salad

Another viral trend involves using shaved carrots in a dish tossed with sesame oil, soy sauce, garlic, and chili crisps, making for a vibrant, flavorful side that’s easy to prepare.

Hayworth points out that younger generations are increasingly valuing whole foods, seeing them as a more economical and healthier way to get needed nutrients.

6. Protein Muffins

In 2025, the trend towards “protein everything” has made protein muffins essential for meal prep. Made from cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, and various protein powders, they offer 8 to 20 grams of protein per serving, ideal for quick breakfasts or snacks.

Clinton remarked, “The focus on protein is more of a lifestyle choice—it’s about feeling full and satisfied throughout the day.” This trend is practically essential for busy schedules.

7. Turkish Pasta

This TikTok sensation replicates traditional Turkish manti by combining seasoned ground meat with pasta and garlic yogurt sauce, topped with paprika butter. It’s a high-protein meal that can be made in about half an hour, which is a win!

8. Onion Ring Chips

Replacing the classic fried option, these chips utilize thin onion slices drizzled with olive oil and Parmesan, resulting in a crunchy snack. It’s a fun, healthier twist on comfort food.

Clinton describes vegetables’ growing appeal, saying they’re morphing into comfort food, becoming, in a way, an accessible luxury.

9. Turkey Breast Pot

Turkey breast is undergoing a transformation, becoming a go-to for culinary simplicity. Utilizing a slow cooker makes it juicy and flavorful, extending its use beyond just holiday meals.
